Welcome to Gay In Every Bite...
This is the first entry in my food blog. Me and my bestie Travis went to Golden Corral in glen burnie md. I been wanting to go for along time its not to many all you can eat places around you really only have a few choices between Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet, Cactus Willies Steak Buffet & Bakery and Golden Corral both I have been too many times. So just on a random didn't feel like cooking night my bestie said lets go there since I never been and it was right across the street. My first impressions of the place was high because it was a lot of cars in a parking lot which in most cases is a very good sign,it which a little line inside I had very high hopes but this hopes where shorty crushed!
First problem is the tables are placed really close together which in a place where you have to keep getting up and sitting down is not the best setting. So after we found a 2 seater booth. We got up to use the restroom to wash our hands before eating, and the bathrooms was not good smelling at all smelled like a back alley that have not cleaned in forever. We get our first plates I wanted to start off with a nice salad and Travis got Clam chowder. One major problem not only me and Travis noticed but many other patrons pointed out a lot of the utensils was VERY dirty with food still stuck on them so you had to keep looking though them to find a clean one.
The lettuce and salad mixing was very fresh and they used real chopped up bacon and not bacon bits which added a lovely saltiness to my salad. Travis pointed out that his clam chowder was very well seasoned and good tasting giving the fact it was in a dirty bowl. My next plate which was was mac & cheese corn bread stuffing, and mash potatoes with gravy. mac & cheese was very cheesy and creamy, stuffing was very mussy which had no form to it at all, mash potatoes did not taste fresh as if it was made from "out of a box".
An my final plate was of my dessert which I really enjoyed I got a apple crumble in which I topped it which vanilla soft serve and hot caramel sauce. Now in closing I want to point out a problem in which I also have with Cactus Willies is when you come in you pick a soda/drink and have to stick which it, where at Hibachi you get a cup and you can get a new drink as you please this is just a person nit pick I have. My final note is next to us this girl starts playing in her toes at the time which I know is not Golden Corrals problem but people need to teach there kids some matters and yes I enclosed a picture. So in closing I give my scores my rating scale runs from 1-5 5 being the best 1 being the worse
Cleanness 1 out of 5 dirty utensils, bowls and nasty bathroom could have been a lot better when I agree that you need a cup of hot water to clean your fork and spoon off thats a major problem
Atmosphere 3.5 out of 5 the way the tables and chairs was setup like a just plain set down place which is not really good when you have to keep getting up but its still works out ok.
Food 3 out of 5 the over all taste and choices of food was good its not as much of a section as the other all you can eat places but it works some things seem very fresh and flavorful while other things seem like it came out of a box. So its a little inconsistent and not balanced .
Staff 4 out of 5 The staff was very nice the lady at the front counter was very nice smiled made sure our soda order was good. Our server seemed like a nice fellow he only came to our table once but we really didn't need that much help..and the best part was the guy behind the dessert counter was very cute which when the food and cleanness of a place its bad its good to have eye candy there to take your mind off that problem.. well temporarily anyway.
Over All Score 2 out of 5 As I said at the beginning of this review I had very high hopes for this place not knowing if all Golden Corrals are like this one or its just a isolated thing but in all honestly with places like Cactus Willies and Hibachi out there I can't in good conscience tell someone to go here when its a lot better places out there!
